The Osceola Mills Historical Foundation is a non-profit organization incorporated under the laws of the State of Pennsylvania. It is located in the town of Osceola Mills in the Brisbin house at 600 Lingle St. It is organized exclusively for the charitable educational purpose of identifying and preserving the historical heritage of the area including artifacts, writings, buildings, and any other items pertaining to the history of the city.

In 1876 a red brick home was built as a family dwelling  by George M. Brisbin a prominent business man in Osceola Mills. He and his family lived there until his death in 1908. The home had various owners for several years until the American Legion purchased it in 1934 for one dollar from the fraternal lodge " Order of Red Men" owners from 1916 to 1934. The legion closed its doors in 1976 and the building remained unoccupied for eleven years.

The Historical Foundation was formed in 1987 and a lease was signed by the Borough Council Foundation and American Legion to restore the building as a Community Center. The first public meeting was held in June 1987 and an executive committee was formed July 13. The purpose of the group was to conduct a campaign to raise funds from individuals, corporations, and other bodies and to sell souvenirs, curios, and momentos. Funds that were raised were to be used for the restoration of the building. New windows, roof, furnace, electrical wiring, and painting were needed to fulfill the goals of the organization. No part of such funds or property received as a gift and no part of net earnings or principal shall benefit any director or members of the corporation. Committees were formed and volunteer donations slowly came in. The building now houses a public library that leases from the foundation and a community meeting room on the first floor. A historical museum is on the upper level. It is observing its tenth anniversary this year and holds an extensive collection of Osceola artifacts, local history books, limited genealogy, and newspapers. We average 300 visitors a year and are open from June to October on Sunday and Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. Private tours can be arranged.
